Black and white imagery, especially photographic, has been in and out of fashion as many times as... well, black and white imagery. Nowadays, only really strong, visually stimulating images carry enough substance to be allowed into the, some would say, elite category, and this composition lends itself perfectly to this. This image has the added appeal of being given a subtle warmth, bringing it away from the cold greyness of just black and white.
