STAGE 2. Once satisfied that the eye appears to have life, I go about building up the image around it. Using four different weights of pencil, I maintain the same tonal values and slowly expand the image. It is from this point on, being that I am happy with it so far, that I begin to wonder at what point I will muck it up. This means that every little addition is made with great deliberation and care.
